What Causes Elevation In The AST Level While On Melatonin?
my 18 year old son just had blood work done and his AST level was 124 and platelets level was 139; everything else was in normal range. He drinks powdered protein drinks, eats protein bars and regularly took melatonin during the school year because of insomnia; he hasn t taken melatonin since summer started in June. what would cause just his AST level to be so high and nothing else?

I really appreciate your concern, the test result need to be correlate with the clinical condition for which the test being done, it seems to be liver pathology but what the test done are not alone enough for any diagnosis other parameters are missing here hope this information helps.
