What Causes Elevated Cholesterol Level While On Pantoprazole?

I have been taking pantoprazole for about four months. I went for yearly blood tests and have found my cholesterol, which has always been quite stable, has increased and I was wondering if this could be due to the Pantoprazole. I take no other medication.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is used to treat acid-peptic disease.
Headache or diarrhea are common side effects. Sometimes, there occurs vitamin B-12 deficiency. A very serious allergic reaction can occur due to this drug, but is rare.
Elevated cholesterol levels is not related to consumption of the drug pantoprazole. It could be due to some other cause, which needs to be explored.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
