What Causes Elevated Blood Sugar Levels Along With Fatigue?

I have type 2 diabetes. Lately my readings have been anywhere from 200 up to 275,when they used to be 150 to about 220. I have been feeling fatigued, listless, etc. for a while now, when I can get outside to do a little yard work/ whatever, I feel very tired and sore, even though I didn t do a whole lot. Could my feelings of being tired and listless be attributed to the sugar? Also, we ve been stuck inside all winter and it s just now starting to get a little bit decent (weatherwise) outside. AND I ve not been sleeping very well- when I get up in the morning I really don t feel well rested, so then after a while a want to take a nap. SO- could any of this be related to the sugar, just age, or??? (Also having more problems with arthritis every year. What should I do (in your opinion)?

Hi;

Your symptoms and descriptions are indicating uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. Your glucose levels sometimes rise to high levels enough to cause ketoacidosis symptoms (dry mouth, fatigue, tendency to sleep). Also, I'm thinking that you are overweight. If your weight has increased in recent period, it may have increased your insulin resistance which has been causing your progressed symptoms. I recommend strict diet, increased liquid consumption, swimming or walking outside for at least 45 min for twice a week (if possible); and an appointment with an endocrinologist for revising your anti-diabetic medication (increasing metformin dosage and/or revising insulin dosage).

May you recover soon
