What Causes Elevated Blood Pressure Levels?

I m on my fifth day on the way to being a non-smoker. I ve had good blood pressure with a beta blocker. Nw my BP is higher than ever. It s not because I m stressed or angry. I m not. So while smoking my BP was fine. Now I might have a stroke because I quit? I m not overweight & I ve quit a few times without this side effect. What s going on?
