What Causes Ear Pain While On Meclizine?

I had a vertigo attack along with stomach bug on this passed Saturday. It was pretty severe and I had to go to ER. I still am having vertigo and I have been having drainage from one of my ears and I have been having ear pain from the same ear that is draining. What could be going on? I was given meclizine and Sulfamethoxazole-TMP DS tabs to take for 10 days. Is this ABX appropriate for my symptoms?

Hi,

Meclizine itself won't cause ear pain. It may be due to eustachian tube block or middle ear infection or allergy. BPPV or acute vestibular neuronitis or labyrinthitis may also lead to this problems.

Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
