What Causes Dull Calf Pain?

Hi. My calf has a dull ache in it. Mainly when I bend my leg or when I put my leg out and flex my foot. If I keep it in the position it goes away. I ve done a lot more walking lately than normal. Does this sound like a clot or is it just a sore muscle? I tend to panic over every little ache and pain I get. I am not a smoker, I m not on medication other than Advil for headache. I am an overweight, 36 year old female.

Hello dear,

In your post you have not mentioned about any history of systemic illness like diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorder, etc. or any history of prolonged intake of medicines.

Under such circumstances and considering the fact that you have undergone more walking than normal, the symptoms can be attributed to musculo-skeletal injury.
X ray & Doppler scan of the leg will be helpful in detecting any bone fracture or presence of clot.

Symptomatic relief can be obtained by heat therapy, application of analgesic & muscle relaxant gel, intake of analgesics like Diclofenac (to be taken after food) + Pantoprazole (to be taken 30 minutes before meals).
Supplements of Calcium & Vitamin D can be included in your diet which will help in strengthening of bones.

If symptoms still persist, kindly consult an Orthopedician for proper clinical examination.
Till then, he should maintain adequate hydration & nutrition status, take proper rest and avoid stress.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Take care.
