Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My symptoms started on Wed with a scratchy throat. Thurs morning I had a dry cough but it subsided Thursday afternoon and I felt fine. I woke this morning with a worse dry cough and a feeling like I have a heaviness sitting in my throat and I m belching ALOT, for no reason. No fever. Some body aches. I m guessing this is something viral? The feeling in my throat is very unusual, something I ve never experienced. What do you think?
This is a common manifestation of pharyngitis. During season change it is principally allergic or viral in origin but often proceeds to super added bacterial infection. I would suggest you to take anti-allergens in the form of Fexofenadine + Montelukast (Montair FX) tablets once daily at bed time for atleast 10 days. You can also use Menthol based (eg. Carvol Plus capsules) water vapor inhalation therapy(by dissolving 1 capsule in a kettle of hot water and inhaling the vapor) to provide relieve to your throat. In case you develop fever, start taking Azithromycin 500mg once daily before meal for a period of 3 days. Also you may use Paracetamol 650 mg to relieve fever.
Take care
Regards,
