What Causes Drop In Blood Sugar With Blood Squirting Like Pinhole From Leg?

I have a friend who was feeling sick blood sugar drop and blood began squirting from her leg from something like a pinhole. She is a diabetic and have been in hospital 8 weeks ago with a very bad infectious; having surgery three times in one week to remove infection tunnel. What is happening with her?

Diabetes usually slows down the healing process, because the high blood sugar will attract microbes eventually leading to slow healing process.

In your friend's case most probably a non-healing wound which had got necrosed due to the underlying diabetes have been treated with surgery.

Severe infection can also precipitate hypoglycemia (Low blood sugar) which has to be carefully monitored. Because hypoglycemia is to be dealt more seriously than hyperglycemia.

Proper monitoring of the blood sugar value, and proper post operative care (dressing of the wound) of the surgical suture will prevent further complication.

It is advisable for the patient to follow a strict diabetic diet and do exercise daily once discharged from the hospital.

Consult diabetologist and take further suggestions
