What Causes Dizziness While On Gabapentin?

I have been taking Gabapentin 1 pill since Jan 9 to control my hot flashes. I went off Premeran April of last year. I couple of days ago I started noticing some light heading and I thought it may be due to cataract surgery that I had on Jan 10 (the left eye). Each day this light headedness and dizziness increased. Last night I had wine with dinner and this morning I thought my head was coming off. Terrible dizziness and I think I heard a swishing sound when I turned my head. Slept most of the day but still feeling the effects tonight. Should I see a doctor or will this go away. I plan on NOT taking the medication again.

I can understand the intensity of symptoms which are experiencing. I had seen patients with similar history and complaints in my clinic. Gabapentin is a neurological drug. It will definitely have some neurological side effects. Alcohol will also act on brain. So there will be an increased frequency of side effects.
Hot flashes is due to changes in blood circulation (dilation of blood vessels). So you will also get a lot of sweat.
Try to control hot flashes in a conservative way.
1. avoid triggering factors like alcohol, caffeinine.
2. control your stress levels in daily life
3. try to stay in warm room
4. food items like soy, red clover may relieve hot flashes as the contain phytoestrogens.

Check for any risk factors like obesity and decreased thyroid levels.Drugs like Femarelle can be used safely
Avoid medication for some time and go for conservative ways.
