What Causes Dizziness Despite Being On BP Medication?

I have low blood pressure, take fludrocortisone, but feel very dizzy thtroughout the day. I also take gabapentine and a couple other GI drugs. Are the drugs causing dizziness or is it still my low blood pressure? All my cardiologist says is to eat more salt and wear compression socks. Nota good enough answer for me.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read your message and understood your concern.

I came across the following information:
- low blood pressure
- fludrocortisone
- dizziness
- gabapentine
- GI drugs

Low blood pressure may cause you dizziness. It's one of the most common symptoms of hypotension. Adding salt in your diet will help you maintain a better blood pressure.

Fludrocortisone is a glucocorticoid given to help in maintaining the balance of water and salt in the body and optimise the blood pressure.

Gabapentine is an antiepileptic drug or anticonvulsant. It is prescribed to treat seizures and some types of pain.

Dizziness is a common side effect of both of two drugs.

Make sure to keep your blood pressure in optimal numbers. Take care of your diet and try to add more salt.

If dizziness lasts for a long time and disturbs your everyday life please see a doctor to re-evaluate the dosages of the drugs you take.

I hope this was useful for you.
