Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Dizziness And Tingling Sensation At The Base Of The Head?
Last Saturday I got up to take breakfast dishes to kitchen and fell. I don t feel like I lost consciousness. Afterward I was dizzy off and on all day and tingling at base of head. Just now I was cooking dinner and got light headed, dizzy, sweating, and felt like I could pass out. Don t know what to think or do, any suggestions.
Whenever we receive this kind of cases, first we check all vitals like Pulse rate, Blood pressure, Respiratory count, Sugar levels in the body. Then we take EKG to rule out cardiac causes of lightheadedness.
When sugar levels and EKG is normal we need to rule out Central nervous system-related causes of giddiness. Sometimes inadequate blood supply to the brain also causes giddiness.
Sometimes BP fluctuations immediately getting up from bed also causes giddiness. Please consult your primary care to find out the cause of lightheadedness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Harikrishna Yamjala, Emergency Medicine Specialist
