What Causes Dizziness And Shortness Of Breath While On Avapro?

I take Avapro 300 mg. I also take a diuretic. Often when I stand up after sitting, and more so after lying down, I feel dizzy, light headed and feel faint. Also, when I climb stairs, I am short of breath. Should I cut back the Avapro to 150mg. My blood pressure has been reading on the low side. rstorto@melvin law.com

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Tab. Avapro is an antihypertensive and in addition you are taking a diuretic which also lowers the blood pressure.

It is possible that the symptoms you are having are due to low blood pressure. I would advise you to track your blood pressure for a few days and if the blood pressure is on the lower side discuss it with your physician and get your dose titrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman,
