What Causes Dizziness And Headache After A Head Injury?
I hit my head one week ago today pretty good on the corner of a wall. I iced it for about 30-40 minutes and it seemed to be OK. The next day and a few days after I felt fine, now I m feeling slightly dizzy, the bump is still there and still sore, and I now have swelling in my eyes and one purple/black eye. Also, I have a slight headache. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
It seems the trauma was more severe than it appeared to be. The sudden hit had caused bleeding from superficial vessels to cause inflammation giving you pain &swelling.
The dizziness is due to the sudden jerk to the brain.
-You should ideally consult a surgeon earliest for detailed physical examination/X-rays or MRI as per need to ascertain the extent of trauma followed by needful treatment.
