My 12 year old girl briefly blacked out this evening. She arched her back to stretch and then fell to the floor. She says occasionally when she arches backwards she feels a little dizzy or sees spots but it passes quickly once she stands up. What are things I should consider.
As per your query you symptoms like dizziness and fainting in a teenager . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, inflammation within the inner ear sometimes due to infection, head injury , certain medications and due to cervical spondylosis, meniere's disease , acoustic neuroma , sinusitis and multiple sclerosis migraines . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like rotatory chair test , head movement test , posturography , blood test and CT scan . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) at least for a week along with antiemetic drug , decongestant and expectorant . For now take steam thrice a day and take anti histamine like benadryl . Avoid bending forward, take proper rest and drink green teat with ginger thrice a day.
