What Causes Discomfort While Swallowing Food?

Hi, I am having a difficult time finding anyone with this problem on line.. usually only happens when I eat chicken meat. even though I chew well, at times, I cannot fully swallow the chicken. I am unable to drink when I feel the discomfort because it doesn t empty through my esophagus (sorry about spelling).. the only relieve is to force it up and vomit it out. anything I drink once i feel food get stuck also comes up.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
It is unusual that it only happens with chicken. There are some conditions where there is a narrowing in the esophagus that makes it difficult for foods to pass through. It can be diagnosed by a barium swallow or endoscopy. it is best to see a doctor and get a diagnosis and treatment. In the mean time avoid chicken.
