What Causes Discomfort While On Metoprolol?

My husband had been taking digoxin for several years with no side effects. He then had one heart stent for 90%blockage. After the stent placement he was told to discontinue the digoxin and to take metoprolol succ er 50 mg instead. This was several months ago and he has not felt right since. His cardiologist won t listen to his complaint and insists everything is okay but my husband insists something is wrong. Any advice?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I would explain that his symptoms could be related to Metoprolol adverse effects. I would like to have some more information on his complaints. Switching to another beta-blocker with less adverse effects may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
