What Causes Discomfort In The Throat?

I have a feeling of something stuck in my throat basically behind my tongue. The weird thing is that it changes sides. Most of the time it comes from the left side but then it comes from the right on occasion too. I put my finger back there and can feel what feels like little bumps back there on each side. What could this be??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If there was an object in the throat or trachea, then it would not shift sides in the throat, so this fact is reassuring.

There are fine lesions behind the tongue, this is expected and normal.

Persistent feelings as though food is stuck can sometimes be related to reflux.
If this is the case for you the use of reflux medication may help (prilosec, prevacid, nexium etc). These may take 5 to 7 days for an effect.

If the feeling is significant, you may need endoscopy to take a look at the throat

I hope this helps
