for about 4 months now when I eat greasy type foods my stomach more so lower abdomen starts spasing. Normally it will last for a couple hours by feeling like my colon is being twisted and then let loose then I ll have to immediately go to the bathroom. I had the same reaction last night but it wouldn t stop cramping felt like I was having labor pains. I used an enema was able to use the bathroom and the pain eased up. What do you think is happening? This seems to be more frequent.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Gastrointestinal infections or Irritable bowel syndrome could be the cause. Any history of fever, diarrhea, blood or mucus in stools should be ruled. Any history of difficulty in passing stools should also be noted.

Use of many antibiotics can kill the good bacteria in the gut leading to infections by harmful bacteria. Probiotics increase healthy bacteria in the body. Many food contains probiotics like curd which can also be daily included in diet.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
