What Causes Discomfort Around The Navel?
71 year old woman wakes up with a definite discomfort on her right side, about 3 inches from belly button, twice in one week. Never had that problem before. Sips an Alka-seltzer (msp), didn’t help. Does have an occasional acid reflux that is easily remedied. Can feel a definite knot in abdomen. Not a pain yet, just a local discomfort that keeps her uncomfortable and awake. What could it be?

It can be umbilical hernia, which is common in this age group. You need to do an ultrasound to know the exact defect.
