What Causes Discoloration On The Areola And Nipple Post Menopause?

I am 68 years old. Finished menopause by age 40. Today I noticed I have recently lost all color/pigmentation in both areolas and nipples. This happened very quickly, and I know I ve read it can be related to lack of hormones after menepause....but it s been 28 years! No changes in my life to explain this, so what has caused this to happen now? Should I be concerned?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Some amount of changes can be seen in different parts of the body with the progression of the age. But according to your age and as a part of routine postmenopausal checkup better to get examined once.
So please consult your gynecologist once, clinical examination and sonomammography can find out any possible cause of the problem and you can take treatment accordingly.
Take care.
