What Causes Discoloration Of Skin On Torso And Shoulders?

Hi, I ve had this discoloration in my skin down the right side of my torso, they re darker than my skin colour and on top of my shoulders I have small white discolorations. I have a darker skin colour and it emerged in the summer on a hot day and if formed as a rash at first. It s still on my skin but isn t irritable at all. Not sure if this is a bacterial infection or something more serious I can provide pictures if need be. Thanks!

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have discoloration of skin on torso and shoulders. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sunburn or another kind of burn , infections , autoimmune diseases, such as lupus erythematosus and dermatomyositis , hormonal changes or allergic reaction . I would suggest you to apply cold compresses twice a day , take over the counter anti histamine like benadryl , protect it from sun and apply petroleum jelly . If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants , corticosteroid along with anti inflammatory or antibiotics .
