Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 55 year old female in good health, who has recently lost 50 pounds through a program called Simple 2 Lose. I started noticing a slight discharge from my left nipple. I can t really see it, but sometimes I can just barely feel it. No pain, no soreness. I have no other symptoms, and I have no idea if my weight loss is even relavent. What causes this and is it serious?

Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. S. Samanta's Response
Hi! welcome to HCM and thanks for sharing your problem of nipple discharge...
After going through your description of recent weight loss and treatment history, I must consider the following reasons behind this thick nipple discharge:
2. hormonal changes related to your weight loss etc. affecting prolactin, estrogen, insulin, thyroid hormones etc..
3. activation of breast glands due to some medication
This is a benign condition and just needs ultrasonography and a physical examination / mammography if necessary for confirmation and to relieve your concerns...
regards!
