What Causes Difficulty In Swallowing Food And Burping?

My husband has difficulty swallowing some foods, eats very little, burps a lot. Says his food seems stuck. He drinks too much red wine (in my opinion - 1 bottle a night) could this cause acid and inflammation? He is going to doctor tomorrow, but would like to be a little informed before he goes. Thank you. Gaynor

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern

Your husband's symptoms could be due to the esophagitis, acid reflux disease.
I would suggest to consult the gastroenterologist and undergo examination like barium X-ray/endoscopy, 24 hour esophageal ph test, blood test like ESR, CBC.
Doctor will give following advises:
Tablet esmoprazole before meal three times a day
Syrup mucaine
Tablet metoclopramide at the bed time
Tablet unienzyme and gas x
Drink plenty of water
Avoid spicy/oily/fatty food
Take small frequent meal rather than large meal
Hope this may help you
