She told me to drink a whole bottle of castor oil so i did around 8:00 yesterday i had a lot of diarrhea. Thank god it stopped but now im having bad stomach cramps. Hi,
I have read & understood your query.
To drink castor oil was a household remedy applied to induce bowel movements , with the hope to start fetal decent in lower abdomen/ labor pains. (These days there are better options for inducing labor.)
Actually this theory is no more used does not have any scientific basis , on the other hand, dehydration caused can be harmful to mother's health. The severe abdominal cramps are due to high dose of castor oil causing strong bowel contractions.
In this case-
- Go to ER for fluid replacement as per need,
- Anti spasmodic pill /injectable as per doctor's advise.
- Consult your treating Obstetrician for induction of labor.
Thanks.
