Solar lentiginosisis a common dermatological condition that occurs mostly in people over the age of 40. The condition involves the appearance of pale brown to dark brown spots on the skin called solar lentigines, liver spots, or age spots. They are darker than the surrounding skin. They may be brown, black, or grey and most common on parts of the body that get regular sun exposure.
Avoiding the sun between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m as much as possible and using sunscreen half an hour before stepping out and layered fabric can help. If the spots get darker, has a irregular border or increases in size, visit your doctor to rule out any malignancy.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
