What Causes Depression And Aloofness?
My 18 year old son has no motivation these days. He goes to school ok and getting ok grades but comes home and plays video games and smokes pot every day. He is completely disengaged from his parents. My wife feels it s depression I think it s the pot.

Both you and your wife can be correct. He could be suffering from depression and then the cannabis could also be causing him to be like that.
I will be pretty watchful for symptoms of being socially isolated, poor grades, no friends, odd behavior, strange thoughts as these might indicate that something more severe is going on.
It will not do any harm to send him for an evaluation
