What Causes Dementia After Using Morphine Patches?
My father has been taking cortisone to manage pain for 8 months and then 3 weeks ago was put on morphine patches instead of cortisone. During this whole he has developed dementia symptoms but even more profound the last 2 weeks The nights are hard to deal with because of confusion and delirium state. Has the morphine contributed to this?

Cannot say in your particular case, but generally, dementia would imply a slow and permanent decreased mental functioning without obvious sedation or impairment.
And morphine would cause sedation and impairment at more than minimal amounts. (DELIRIUM). Morphine is often a cause of delirium.
