Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 23 years old female and married. My periods are late approx 17 days. I consult a gynecologist also. Done pregnancy test and it is negative. She has given me Meprate tablets, and told that after taking this I will have my periods after 15-20 days. I am in a very big tension what should I do??
Hello dear Understand your concern Following are the causes of delayed period in absence of pregnancy: Ovarian cyst, excessive stress, change in dietary habit, hormonal imbalance, thyroid dysfunction. You should also go for reproductive and thyroid hormone analysis. Meprate is used for induced period so continue to take it. It will given for - days and bleeding will come 2-5 days after stopping the drug (maximum by 7 days). If period will not come then high dose of progesterone may be given. Hope this may help you
