What Causes Delayed Periods With Pink Discharge?

I am not supposed to start my period until Sunday and my periods are very regular. I had a very light pink discharge for 2 days and then this morning a very small amount of blood. Now I am not bleeding at all. I had unprotected sex 2 days after my period ended last. I have no signs or symptoms of pregnancy. Is it possible I am pregnant or could there be another reason for the light bleeding?

Hallow Dear,

Occasionally, in early pregnancy, some light bleeding may show up at and around the expected menstrual days. It could be so in your case if you are pregnant.

However, you had the only unprotected intercourse 2 days after your menses stopped; that comes to be around day 7 of your cycle. Day 7 is far from the fertile window of the cycle.

Egg gets released (ovulation) 14 days prior to the next expected period. A period of about one week around the day of ovulation is fertile window, which comes to be between day 10 and day 18 of a cycle of 28 days. Day 7 is away from this period; hence the probability of conception is very very low.

However, you may confirm the pregnancy status by:

1. Beta hCG test 10 days after last unprotected intercourse

2. Alternatively you may opt for pregnancy test on overnight morning first urine sample about a week after missing period; done earlier, these tests may report false negative results.

If your status is non-pregnant, you may take some Progestational preparation like Deviry for 5 days. Then within 4-7 days after the discontinuation of the medicine, you should get withdrawal bleeding.

This delay in period could be mostly due the stress of unwanted pregnancy.

I hope this helps you.
