What Causes Delayed Periods While Suffering From PCOD?

I m a 24 year old patient of PCOD. I used to get very irregular periods when I started menstruating. With age, the irregularity reduced although it never arrives on the same dates every month. I have missed my periods in the last two months. I took three home pregnancy tests from different brands and they were all negative. After that I took Meprate for 5 days and a week has passed since that, but I still haven t gotten my periods. What could be the reasons?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.I understand your concern.
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a condition caused by hormonal imbalance in menstrual cycle ..the hormones causing ovulation (lLH)is mainly affected bt the horminal disturbance...so there is no release of mature ovum from ovary..&this in turn causes irregular or absent periods. The unreleased ova collect in ovary to increase ovarian mass.. thus in turn worstens the symptoms &the vicious cycle goes on.
Actually Meprate pills for 5 days should induce withdrawal bleeding within 8-10 Days of withdrawing the pills. Please wait for a couple of days .
Thanks.
