What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Vaginal Spotting And Abdominal Cramps?

My periods are very regular and always on time (April 15 last one was May 13). My period for June was late, took a pregnancy test at home and it was negative. 2 days later starting spotting brown. Day 5 I soak in a warm bath to help sooth my aching back, 20 minutes later while laying down in bed I began cramping. I got up for the restroom and there was bright red blood with small clots. I put on a pad and go to bed. The next morning no blood on the pad however a little bit of red blood in stool and when I wipe. What could be wrong with me? I have called my ob but they ve yet to call me back.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you had a delayed period and you had the pregnancy test earlier than 7 days from the day your period was supposed to come, then please repeat the urinary pregnancy test at least a week after the day your period should come.
If the pregnancy test is positive you need to urgently see a doctor and rule out an ectopic pregnancy.

If the urinary pregnancy test is negative, this may be irregular bleeding due to an anovulatory cycle and just needs you to keep an eye on the periods. If you continue with this irregular bleeding on and off for more than 2 weeks or if it repeats you will need to see your doctor and possibly have some tests and examinations done.

I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. Let me know if I may assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
