What Causes Delayed Periods Along With Lower Back Ache?

First day of my last period was august 29. Last day of intercourse was September 18. For about two weeks after that, I had an increase in vaginal discharge.. then I was expecting my period on October the 1st, but it never came. Today, October the 9th, I am experiencing some watery light pink blood (small amount), cramping and lower back ache..any idea what could this be?

Hello,

You should test hCG to find out if it is from pregnancy. Because pregnancy also can cause spot bleeding and lower back and abdominal pain.

As my experience, if you have that kind of symptom I will do hCG test first in the women reproductive age.

If I rule out pregnancy I will think other cause like secondary oligomenorrhea that can cause from any stress, weight change, excessive exercise, eating disorder, hot flush, hirsutism.

For management, I first do a Progesterone challenge test. If it helps it's mean that you have estrogen hormone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
