What Causes Delayed Periods After Taking Soy Capsules?

Hi. I have been taking some soy capsules for the last 3 weeks and it seems i have missed my period. I have done some pregnancy tests and i get negative results. Could this have been caused by these pills? I am not on any contraceptive for a month now. Or could it be a question of me actually being pregnant and somehow its not detectable until a certain stage

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Soy act as estrogen. It may contain phytoestrogens which may mimic estrogenic effects in a few patients cause changes in the cycle.

But same time have to check other possibilities like pregnancy or anemia or stress or thyroid problems etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Please consult your gynecologist she will examine for hormonal imbalance and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
