What Causes Delayed Periods After Switching Birth Control Pills?

Hi there. I just recently switched birth controls after being on trinessa for 6 years and switched due to headaches. I was supposed to get my period this week but have not. Is that due to introducing new hormones to my body with this new birth control? Thank you
