Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a diagnostic laparoscopy on 7/31/15. Twelve cysts were removed from my left ovary and my fallopian tube was repaired. My doctor encouraged me to have intercourse the following week because I was ovulating. I am now almost a week late. Can a diagnostic laparascopy cause one to miss or have a late period?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Laparoscopy with all the procedures you had does have chance of delay in period but that becomes less possible in your case. As you were already ovulating followed by unprotected sex, hope for positive results. You should go for a home pregnancy test after 8 days, expect delay in date of period.
In case it's negative, you can wait for periods, see your doctor for follow up treatment.
Thank you. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
