What Causes Deep Pain Under Shoulder Blade Post Rotator Cuff Surgery?

I am recovering from right rotator cuff surgery and have graduated to sleepinv in the bed with a pillow propped under my right arm so I won t roll to the right. The problem is that a deep pain has developed under my left shoulder blade area that wakesme up as a burning achy pain so I have to sleep straight on my back. What could that pain be from?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that in trying to rest or reduce the stress on the right shoulder, undue stress was placed on the left.

This stress may have compressed one of the nerves in this area. Nerve related pain can be a burning sensation.
This is likely temporary since the nerve has not be torn or severed.

You can try the pain medications that you have for your right shoulder surgery to see if these help but if not then there are medications for nerve related pain that can be prescribed by your doctor.

eg gabapentin, lyrica, tegretol, amitriptyline, nortriptyline

I hope this helps
