My father is in the hospital. When he went to the hospital the tips of his fingers and toe nails have turned very dark. I was told that this is the result of the blood pressure medication used to raise my father s very low blood pressure. Will this clear up? Thanks
Hello Usually dark bluish color of peripheral part of body means fingers and toe ( of limbs ) caused by atherpsclerosis ( stopping ) of blood vessels . However reason of stopping of blood supply may be drugs ,may be disease ( blockage of arteries ). Now about your question "will this discoloration clear up"? It depend on many factors: If part concerned is not dead it will recover and get its original color . If permanent damage it will nor resume its color. So treating doctor can tell you exact thing. Good luck.
