What Causes Dark Brown Vaginal Discharge?

Everyday my underwear end up being brown like its dirt or something. I wash regularly, and take care of myself down there to the best of my knowledge. I wipe like I should and it even still happens right after I shower. I have an irregular period but it doesn t look like old blood or anything or skid marks so what can I do to stop it? Is there anything I can do to stop it ?

Hello
Thank You for contacting HCM.

There are many causes of brown vaginal discharge ,but in your case it seems to be due to your irregular periods.
Other causes :
- During ovulation, an egg is released from the ovary causing a bit of bleeding. This blood mixes with normal vaginal fluids, creating a light brown vaginal discharge.
-Brown vaginal discharge can be the result of old tissue that did not leave the body during the last period.
-Artificial hormones in birth control pills can cause irregular periods upon initial usage and lead to spotting and brown vaginal discharge.
-Hormone levels can be altered by stress, creating spotting and a brown vaginal discharge between periods.
-And sometimes due to diseases like bacterial vaginosis ,pelvic inflammatory disease etc.
TREATMENT:

-Keep Good Hygiene
You can get relief from practicing good hygiene, wearing cotton underwear, loose-fitting clothing, changing tampons or pads frequently during the menstrual cycle and avoid douching to prevent infections. And always practice safe sex.
-Take antiboitics for 3-5 days.
-Maintain a Healthy Diet
Eating a well-balanced, nutritious diet and drinking plenty of water can help keep hormone levels balanced and steady and prevent brown vaginal discharge from happening.
