General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I am sorry for the loss that you had.
Cystitis is a very common infection in pregnant women. This is due to the dilation of the ureters and urethra under the effect of increased estrogen, which is typical in pregnancy. When the urethra and the ureters are wide, this may predispose of infection, such as cystitis or even kidney infection.
This is why pregnant women are more at risk for such infections.

I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
