What Causes Cyst On The Toe Draining Thick Clear Pus?

My husband has a cyst like wound on his big toe that his primary care Dr. told him was nothing. Now its starting to discharge thick clear puss that looks like neosporin (same appearance and consistency). Is this alarming? He's using a warm compress on it now but this is the third time today it has purged. Thoughts?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that a cyst like bump on the he big toe that discharge thick discharge seems to be due to infection and can be most commonly due to ingrown toenail also known as Onychocryptosis..
It can also be due to traumatic injury to the toenail leading to fungal or Bacterial infection leading to Paronychia..
I would suggest you to consult a Podiatrist and get evaluated and he can cut the ingrown portion of toenail after applying local anaesthetic gel following Oral antibiotics along with topical antibiotic and steroid..
Soak your feet in warm water..
In case if still there is no improvement mail removal can help..
In case of Paronychia application of a combination of antibiotic and antifungal agents along with steroid ointment can be appled along with soaking feet in Epson salt solution..
You should also avoid wearing tight footwear as well as moisture accumulation in the area..
