What Causes Cramps And Stiffness In The Knee Post Partial Knee Replacement?

I had a partial knee replacement 2 years ago with very good results. I am 60 years old and today I cannot walk on the leg without feeling the knee catch or buckle. I am female and weighed about 135 lbs at the time of surgery. I have put on weight steadily for the last 18 months and weigh 153 today. It is not particularly painfull. It appears that something is rubbing on bone in at least three different places depending on how I move the leg and how I distribute the weight. There is no apparent swelling, redness or heat in the knee area today. What could be causing this? It has happened only a few times since my surgery and never for very long or to this extent. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
