What Causes Cracking Of One’s Voice In A Male During Adolescence?
Hi I m 21 and my voice still crack occasionally. I don t have a soft voice but it s not as deep as my dads. The cracks don t make me massively self conscious except when they are at the most inconvenient times. Any ideas what this may be? I have smoked for 4 years but recently quit
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have cracking voice in a male past teenage . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like abnormal level to hormone like testosterone , infection in larynx , chest or lung infection , laryngitis and throat cancer ( rare ) . I would suggest you to consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray , CT scan and hear the voice to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may refer you to endocrinologist or ENT specialist . Doctor may give hormonal therapy , antibiotics for infection and recommend few exercises to strengthen the vocal cods . For now do warm saline gargles and apply warm compresses on neck externally .
