What Causes Coughing, Fever And Photophobia?

My 21 month old grandson has been running fevers of 101 to 103.5 over the past couple weeks. He now is coughing but also has a severe sensitivity to sunlight. He cries whenever he is outside and hides his eyes. Could it just be a virus as my son has been told or possibly something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear patient,

yes the most common cause for your grandsons condition is a respiratory virus infection, which will mostly go away through symptomatic treatment like nurofene juice, nasal spray/drops and enough fluid intake. However, since this has been going on for 2 weeks now, it is advisable to see your pediatrician again to rule out any serious condition like bronchitis or pneumonia, which might need antibiotic treatment. Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
