Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a runny nose for the first 3 days and on the 4th day my chest feels tight and would force to cough so I can expectorate what feels like mucus in my chest. My voice is very hoarse and chest feels tight. I don t cough a lot. How long will this normally last. On the fourth day I just got one of my tooth extracted because it was infected and Dentist prescribed me Amoxicillin and Ibuprofen. What can I do to feel better. I have tried a hot shower and have been drinking a lot of fluids (had 2 liters of water today) and in bed all day. Please help. When will I feel better. Thanks.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks gor the query. I understand your concer. You seem to have allergic / viral cold followed by laryngitis & chest bronchitis. The antibiotic&Ibuprofen you are taking you should add anti allergic pill like cetrizine & decongestant cough syrup to combat chest tightness. Vapor inhalation/hot saline gargles would help ...along with rest.. light nourishing diet....& lot of warm water. Viral/allergic symptoms would go in a weeks time. If not or if you have yellow sputum/fever....you should consult a physician for needful antibiotics. Thanks.
