What Causes Cough And Tickling Sensation In The Throat?

I have had a cough that comes from a gagging , tickling feeling in my throat. I usually cough at least 3-4 times with it only ending with a really deep, hard clearing cough. I have had it since the first week of Feb. but it seems to be getting worse now. My Dr first said I had a URI but then it keep on so I just went back and she said it must be bronchitis. She gave me Azithromycin and Benzonatate, neither seem to be helping. I really need some answers!

Hi
Thanks for the query to Health Care Magic.
You are having cough , ticking sensation in the throat , since February , such type of symptoms still present in spite of this you have taken antibiotics and anti allergy drugs .
Such type of cough may be due to these possibilities , these include:
1 Tuberculosis , diagnosis can be confirmed by montoux test , X ray , sputum examination and blood examination.
2 Asthmatic allergic bronchitis , diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination and clinical history .Typical ronchi present ( rales or wheezing sound during breathing is a characteristic feature of asthmatic allergic bronchitis .
3 Bronchiectsis , diagnosis can be confirmed by X RAY chest .
However there are so many other possibilities of such cough .
So please consult one more specialist ( PULMONOLOGIST ) and get his opinion .
Hope this will help you .
Further , if any question I will reply happily.
Good luck.
