What Causes Cough And Feeling Of Something Stuck In Throat?
I have a cough, mostly dry feels like a tickle that won t seem to go away, sometimes something there, had a sore throat but gone now. I thought it was a cold I had gotten from my kids but now I feel like I have something stuck in my throat when I swallow, like I am swallowing a pill that just didn t go down. I noticed a spell a month ago where my voice felt very very strained, I wasn t sick then and it seemed to go away, but now it feels very strained again. Also food doesn t have much taste...common cold that I just need to get through????

Hi,
Coughing, feeling of something like a pill stuck in throat, strained voice and lowering of taste can be due to the combination of following reasons:
* Corona or Covid 19 should be ruled by RT PCR test.
* Viral infection leading to inflammation in the throat giving you a feeling of something like a pill stuck in throat.
* Associated respiratory tract infection causing coughing.
* All these also lead to strained voice due to inflammation in laryngeal area or even in the vocal cords.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Consult your Doctor, preferable an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like endoscopy, tests of blood and so on. All these will lead to an appropriate diagnosis and thus allow a proper management. This may be in the form of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and steroids, other symptomatic and supportive treatment, povidone iodine gargles.. Take plenty of oral fluids.
