What Causes Continuous Vaginal Twinges?

I am 47 and well into menopause (the worst seems to be over)...although I experienced menstruation this month for the first time in 1 and 1/2 years. For the first time this past weekend I am experiencing vaginal twinges all weekend non stop. They are not painful at all...just strange. They occur about every 10 seconds and don t stop. I have had my tubes done to prevent pregnancy 7 years ago. Just curious what this could be.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As you have entered menopause and got period after 1.5 years, your body seems to be still adjusting to all the hormonal changes that it is getting after so many years. Thus, it is normal to feel some vaginal twinges that are painless. The blood and nerve supplies to the vaginal area are very rich so they get more effects of the hormonal imbalances it is getting.

Thus, you should not worry about them. They will stop in some time slowly as your body will adjust to menopause.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
