What Causes Constipation, abdominal Pain And Pain During Urination In Women?

Hello doctor,I m a 24 year old female with the following symptoms :1) feeling of constipation from 3 days. I ve been to the toilet about 8 times last night as I felt the need to pass stool but did so only once.2) discomfort while passing urine. I would say I feel a combination of burning, pain and tingling effect down there during urination.3) Lower abdomen pain.4) From past 1 hour I m feeling itching down there.I m sexually active from past 8 months. The guy I m with and I have only been with each other. I mean we have not had any other sexual partners. I also have tiny pimple kind of stuff on my labia and it hurts during intercourse. When I showed to my gynecologist,, she said they are hymenal remnants and nothing to be worried about. But she ordered a bunch of thyroid and STD tests. I feel the need to go for a second opinion. What should I do? Is it possible for you to diagnose the problem from the symptoms I ve mentioned?

Hi,

See there can be multiple causes of your lower abdominal pain . The most common is urinary tract infection.

However, it can be because of pelvic inflammatory disease(infection of pelvic organs) or occasionally because of enteritis( infection of the intestine ) or irritable bowel (problems of intestines).

It is good you got these tests done, Besides taking in a lot of water, 3-4 liters per day. Certain foods like excess of carbonated drinks, lentils, a lot of fried and spicy food can also precipitate the symptoms. So avoid them.

If your above tests are normal and your symptoms persist, then you need to investigate further. Go for complete blood count, routine urine examination, stool test, an ultrasound test. This will help to make the exact diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Milinda Gupta
