What Causes Constipation With Blood In Stool?
Hi my son is two and is slightly constipated but today I found lots of pink bloody mucous in his stool. He's been constipated before and now he holds his stool in for as long as he possibly can (sometimes days) even when he's not constipated because he doesn't want to go.

this is a common problem in children as nobody can teach them how to pass stools. The hard stools cause a tear in the anus which leads to lot of pain while passing stools. In fear of the pain, the child avoids the calls of nature. This just increases the constipation and when it has to come out, it rubs and refreshens the tear of the anus. The bloody mucous in stools is due to the same.
I would suggest a laxative to be drunk orally (lactulose-5ml once at bedtime).
apply a local anesthetic jelly at the anus before and after stools.
make him sit in warm water tub for 10 min whenever he has pain (especially after passing motions).
Please visit a colorectal surgeon or atleast a general surgeon in your area for actual diagnosis and full course of treatment.
