What Causes Constant Fever Despite Taking Acetaminophen?

My 16 yr old daughter has a 100 degree fever that wont go away with ibuprofen or acetaminophen alone. The fever started yesterday mid morning and she s been taking 400-600 mg of pain relievers every 4 hours but the fever doesn t go away. Should I take her to urgent care?

Hi thanks for asking question.

Here only complain is fever.If fever goes above 101 and if it is not decreasing in 2 days consult doctor.

If she developed abdominal pain with vomiting then LFT done to rule out hepatitis.

If burning micturition present then urine examined for pus cells.

If consistent lower abdominal pain search for typhoid by widal test.

If cough , sore throat present then it could be acute viral respiratory infection.It is treated symptomatically like antihistaminic and do congestent.

Fever could be physiological like lack of sleep or excess heat can lead to feverishness.

If fever continuously increasing then detail investigation done with USG , RFT, LFT and complete CBC.
